Our expectation is that our future trainees will pass all relevant exams on the first sitting. However, we know that there can be a multitude of reasons as to why someone may fail their exams so we will always talk to you about this before any final decisions are made.

This will very much depend on what available vacancies we have available for the particular location you wish to change to. We would advise you speak to the early careers team if you need to discuss this once you have received an offer.

Our training contract is a two-year programme made up of four six-month seats. We offer seats in a range of teams across our four groups. Our groups are Disputes, Finance & Projects, Corporate & Commercial and Real Estate.

Under the SRA and Law Society of Scotland requirements, trainees are required to develop certain skills in a range of areas of law. Some of these skills can usually only be developed by doing a contentious seat so we would therefore expect that the majority of our trainees would do a contentious seat at some point during their training contract.

Yes, we do. Our trainees can apply to do one of their seats at either one of our clients or one of our non-UK offices. To find out more, please check our Training Contracts page.

If a trainee chooses to leave the firm before they have completed their training contract, there will be an exit fee.
